Bring your students beyond the classroom and onto the hillside at The Vista Sol — where learning happens around the fire, in the garden, and under the open sky.
Our field trips are designed for schools, homeschool groups, Scouts, youth organizations, and special educational programs looking for a hands-on experience connected to nature, food, farming, sustainability, and the outdoors.
During your visit, students take a walk around the property and discover the plants, wildlife, natural landscape, and working elements that make The Vista Sol unique.
We encourage students to slow down, observe their surroundings, ask questions, and connect with the natural world.
Located just outside Temecula Wine Country, The Vista Sol offers outdoor field trips for schools and groups throughout Temecula, the Inland Empire, and North County San Diego.

A hands-on garden and gardening field trip for children
Dig in, get your hands dirty, and discover where food begins.
Participants explore the garden through a series of simple, hands-on activities designed to inspire curiosity, confidence, and a connection to the natural world. They'll create an edible garden, plant their own miniature grow kit, and discover what plants need to grow.

Playing With Food: Garden Surprise
A hands-on garden, art, and seasonal food field trip
Explore the colors, shapes, textures, and flavors of the fall garden through a playful combination of gardening, creativity, and hands-on art.
The experience begins with a short, age-appropriate garden lesson focused on seasonal vegetables and how they grow. Participants then use fresh-cut vegetables as natural stamps, along with foam brushes and fabric paint, to create their own garden-inspired textile artwork.
As the artwork dries, the pieces are displayed throughout the garden on a clothesline, creating a colorful Garden Gallery for everyone to enjoy.
Participants then gather for a casual lunch featuring kid-friendly favorites, fresh fruits and vegetables, apple cider, and a sweet treat before wrapping up with a group photo surrounded by their artwork.

Finished artwork will remain on-site to dry completely before being carefully packaged with a simple kraft tag and keepsake detail and returned to the school.

Sweet Impressions: A Fall Cookie Stamping Experience
A hands-on baking and cooking field trip
Roll, stamp, sugar, and decorate your way through a playful fall cookie experience at The Vista Sol.
Rather than a traditional seated class, Sweet Impressions invites participants to move through hands-on stations around our communal table, creating beautifully stamped fall cookies before heading into our Studio container for a cozy finale.
The experience ends with a nostalgic s’mores hot cocoa bar, complete with roasted marshmallows and a little campfire spirit.

The Vista Sol Chuckwagon Crew: Food, Fire & Feast
A hands-on field trip on food, fire, and the history of the American Chuckwagon
Step into the role of a Vista Sol Chuckwagon Crew member and explore how fire, food, and cooking shaped the way people lived.
Participants will discover how humans first learned to use fire, practice basic fire safety and grilling skills, explore how growing food changed communities, and hear the story of the chuckwagon cooks—known as “Cookie”—who kept cattle-drive crews fed on the American trail.
Along the way, participants will help prepare colorful vegetable skewers, observe a ranch-style lunch cooking over the fire, and discover how heat transforms the color, texture, aroma, and flavor of food.

The experience is designed to encourage curiosity, confidence, participation, and teamwork, with opportunities to learn through seeing, smelling, touching, tasting, and doing. Participants are welcome to engage at their own comfort level.
Older Kids: $40 per participant
Neurodivergent Young Adults & Adults with Intellectual or Developmental Disabilities: $55 per participant
